First four FAB T-27M Tucanos
On 9 December 2021, the Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB, Brazilian Air Force) took delivery of its first four upgraded T-27M Tucanos. The trainers have a glass cockpit and new avionics and are easily recognisable by their smart pixelated orange/white/black colour scheme.
The modernisation programme is carried out by Albatros at Lagoa Santa. Early November 2020, Scramble Magazine reported on the maiden flight of the first T-27M, serial 1446, which occurred on 23 October 2020.
The first quartet T-27Ms, serials 1383, 1426, 1439 and 1446, was taken up by the Primeiro Esquadrão de Instrução Aérea (1°EIA) Cometa of the air force academy at Pirassununga. In total, 24 T-27s will be upgraded to T-27M.
