First KLu Apache Guardians delivered
On 13 December 2022, the first two AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters for the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, Royal Netherlands Air Force) were delivered to 302 Squadron at Fort Hood-Killeen/Robert Gray AAF (TX).
The two AH-64Es, serials Q-31 and Q-32, are the first two of eight Apache Guardians that will be operated by the Fort Hood unit. This squadron will be responsible for the training of future pilots and technicians in the coming years.
On 25 October 2022, the first KLu AH-64E (Q-31) was handed over in a small ceremony at Boeing’s Apache factory in Mesa (AZ). Deliveries to 301 Squadron Per Sapientam Efficiens et Immortalis at Gilze-Rijen air base (NL) will start in November 2023 and will end in 2025. The unit will operate twenty Apache Guardians.
Most of the AH-64DN Apaches are already in the USA for remanufacturing. According to the Scramble database, fourteen Deltas are still operated by 301sq and fly almost daily missions. The remaining AH-64DNs will leave Gilze-Rijen in the near future.
