First three of nine Peruvian UH-60 s arrived
Early November 2024, the first three of nine Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawks arrived at Lima/Callao in Peru. The helicopters were donated by the USA and the photos indicate that they are former US Department of State (DoS) aircraft in grey gloss colour scheme with a maroon cheatline.
The two countries closed this government-to-government deal on 13 August and the Peruvian congress was formally requested to approve this deal on 3 October. The bill was passed with 74 votes of the 95 in favour.
The gift consists of nine upgraded UH-60A+ Black Hawks, the photos show '027' on the fin of one of them, indicating that this is the former US Army 88-26027, operated by the DoS as N678YP. This may mean that all were formerly DoS machines but we still require confirmation of that.
Although the Black Hawks are with the Air Force at Lima now, they are destined to go to the Policía Nacional del Perú (PNP).
