Flying Heritage collection remains in Everett
On 18 April 2022, Scramble Magazine announced the sale of the Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum located at Paine Field, Everett (WA) to entrepreneur and warbird pilot Steuart Walton. Steuart is a member of the Walton dynasty and grandson of the founder of the Wal-Mart store chain.
On 4 August 2022 it was announced that the complete collection has been acquired by a new non-profit organization established by Walton, called the Wartime History Museum. It also announced that the museum will remain at its current location in Paine Field, rather than moving to Walton’s home state of Arkansas.
As most people will know, the FHCAM was the brainchild and pride and joy of the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who died from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma during late 2018.
The sale of the entire collection has secured the future of a number of very rare projects of FHCAM e.g. the Junkers Ju-87 and Focke-Wulf FW-189 currently still under rebuild. The Wartime History Museum plans to reopen FHCAM to the public, at its current location, within the next year and will share additional details when plans are finalized.
