In April 2021, the government of Argentina approved the purchase of ten Beechcraft TC-12B/UC-12B Hurons from the USA. The total cost of the purchase is approximately USD 17 million and includes the training of aircrew.
The contract will be financed through the conditions of the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programme, with a full payment completion by June 2026.
Already back in June 2020, the Fuerza Aérea Argentina (FAA, Argentine Air Force) confirmed the purchase of the ten Hurons.
The Hurons, all former US Navy aircraft, are currently stored at the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (AZ). Personnel of the 309th AMARG will bring the aircraft to airworthiness, after which they will be flown over to a maintenance centre for reconditioning to adapt them to the requirements of the FAA, mainly with regard to compliance with the Military Airworthiness Directives.
Delivery of the aircraft to Argentina is planned for 2024.
