On 2 February 2022, Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) handed over two Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv Mk.III helicopters to the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
The two Dhruvs, serials CG863 and CG864, will be used by Coast Guard Air Squadron (CGAS) 845 at Kochi, formerly known as Cochin, in the state of Kerala on the west coast of India.
The ICG will receive sixteen Dhruv Mk.III helicopters in the coming years. The two that were inducted in the ICG today are number nine and ten. The Mk.III version features a full glass cockpit with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) Integrated Architecture Display System (IADS), more powerful "Shakti" (Safran Ardiden 1H1) engines (1,400–2,000 hp each), and a host of new systems integrated by HAL’s Rotary Wing Research and Design Centre (RWRDC).
