On 9 April 2022, the Polisi Udara (Indonesian Police) signed a contract for the EHang 216 autonomous aerial vehicle (AAV, manned drone).
Although it can be manned, it can also be operated from the ground or fly autonomously. Moreover, it uses batteries instead of fuel.
The EHang 216 is made in China. The police will be using it in regular drone configuration for aerial surveillance at first. Later this year the machine will be certified to carry people.
During a demonstration at the Indonesian International Motor Show, one EHang 216 was shown wearing the serial P-1001. We do not know if this is the first police drone, or was just painted up for the occasion.
