Junkers for Battle of Britain Museum
The Trustees & Volunteers of the Battle of Britain Museum in Hawkinge (UK) are very excited to announce the acquisition of a CASA 352L (license built Junkers Ju52/3m) to the ever-expanding collection.
The museum displays the largest and most important collection of Battle of Britain artefacts in the UK and is based at former airfield, RAF Hawkinge.
The 3-engined transporter has been part of the collection of the Cosford RAF Museum for more than 30 years. The CASA served the Ejército del Aire (EdA, Spanish Air Force) as T.2B-272 (c/n 163), but was displayed in the RAF Museum in the colours of G-AFAP, a Junkers that was flown as an airliner by British Airways.
The CASA is expected to arrive in Hawkinge shortly after the BoB Museum closes for the winter on Sunday 13 November 2022.
After arrival, she will become one of the Volunteers key winter projects, and which will see her fully stripped & repainted externally & into a colour scheme of a Junkers Ju52/3m that would have had taken part in Operation Seelöwe (Sealion), the planned invasion of Britain, had it taken place!
The internal fuselage will then be turned into a brand-new Education Facility. This will be made available for visiting schools, colleges and groups from April 2023 and be a location where the museum volunteers can further share and teach about the Battle of Britain.
