Finland exercise MC 130J tanking Hornets credit Ilmavoimat 640"Just a nice Picture...!"

During the exercise Ilmataktiikka 24 (Air Tactics 24), a USAF MC-130J Commando II of the 67th Special Operations Squadron at Mildenhall (UK) was tasked to refuel Ilmavoimat (Finnish Air Force) F/A-18 Hornets.

The aim of Air Tactics 24 is to train the key personnel of the air force in tactically challenging scenarios. The exercise took place from 26 to 30 August 2024 and involved more than 30 aircraft, including 22 F/A-18 Hornet fighter aircraft and four Hawk jet trainers. In addition, transport and liaison aircraft participated in interoperability training missions.

Personnel and aircraft from all units of the Finnish Air Force participated in the exercise. The main operational base for the F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets performing air defence tasks was Kuopio/Rissala Air Base of Karelia Air Wing, while Rovaniemi Air Base of Lapland Air Wing hosted the fighter aircraft simulating the enemy.
