Recently, USAF's newest Boeing F-15EX Eagle II fighters participated in the Northern Edge 21 (NE 21) exercise in Alaska.
During the exercise, the two first-of-their-kind Eagle IIs, 20-0001 and 20-0002, were being used for concurrent operational and developmental tests. The aircraft participated in NE 21 only three weeks after they were delivered to the USAF and flew a combined 33 sorties from 28 April till 14 May.
Depicted is F-15EX 20-0001 from the 40th Flight Test Squadron, 96th Test Wing out of Eglin AFB (FL). It flew in formation during an aerial refuelling operation above the skies of Northern California while on the way back from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (AK) to Eglin.
