Depicted in the darkness is 28th Bomb Wing's Rockwell B-1B Lancer 86-0129/EL on the tarmac at Andersen AFB (Guam).
The bomber, normally based at Ellsworth AFB (SD), Lancer "129", named "Black Widow", is now part of the 34th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron at Andersen. Being part of USAF's first Bomber Task Force (BTF) B-1B deployment in 2023, Black Widow carries both Ellsworth's 34th Bomb Squadron and 37th Bomb Squadron badges.
This latest Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) mission demonstrates the Lancer’s ability to rapidly deploy anywhere, anytime and provide lethal precision global strike options for commanders in and over the area of operations. Previous B-1B missions during 2022 included aerial integration with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) and hot pit refueling operations with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) at RAAF Base Darwin. The Lancers will continue to integrate and train with Allies and partners through various operations and exercises in the Indo-Pacific region.
Earlier, Scramble Magazine wrote about how Lancers were used as a strategic messaging for China and how the downsizing of USAF's operational B-1B fleet was completed.
