Hans Jacobs photographed one of the more exotic looking F-15DJ Eagles operated by the Hiko Kyodogun (Aggressor Group) of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) based at Kanazawa/Komatsu air base.
The unit, part of the Koku Senjyutsu Kyododan (Tactical Air Training Command), was based at Nyutabaru air base until 2016, when it moved up north to Komatsu. The agressor unit was originally formed at Tsuiki air base with five T-2s and two T-33s in 1981. Two years later, in March 1983, it was moved to Nyutabaru and in 1990 they switched to the F-15DJ Eagle.
According to the Scramble database the unit now operates eight F-15DJ Eagles and a single Kawasaki T-4. Unfortunatle one Eagle was lost on 31 January 2022.
