On Thursday, 12 December 2024, the Heeresflieger (HEER, German Army Aviation) Kampfhubschrauberregiment (KHR) 36 (Attack Helicopter Regiment) at Fritzlar Army Airfield performed a "2024 farewell" event, bringing eleven Tiger attack helicopters into the air.
The unit was established in 1979 as one of the original three anti-tank helicopter regiments of the German Army. Initially designated as Heeresfliegerregiment (HFR) 36, it was equipped with 60 Bo105P helicopters.
In 2002, the unit was reorganised and renamed Kampfhubschrauberregiment (KHR) 36 to prepare for the introduction of the Tiger attack helicopter. In April 2011, the regiment received its first three approved series-production Tigers.
On 12 December, the formation of eleven Tiger helicopters, accompanied by one EC135, conducted a flypast over the region.
The helicopters passed the nearby towns of Guxhagen, Kassel, Gudensberg, and Felsberg before returning to the Georg-Friedrich Kaserne at Fritzlar Army Airfield.
KHR36 comprises two flying squadrons: KH-Tiger-Einsatzstaffel 1 and Einsatzstaffel 2.
