On 14 November 2022, AERO Vodochody and LOM Praha signed a contract for the delivery of four new L-39NG training aircraft for the Vzdušné síly armády České republiky (CzAF, Czech Air Force). The contract also includes an option for the delivery of four additional aircraft.
Next to the aircraft the contract also includes post-warranty support, high altitude equipment, survival equipment, initial training for pilots and ground personnel, ground equipment, initial sets of spare parts and consumables, flight planning and analysis systems and a ground training system.
The L-39NG will be used for basic, advanced and basic combat training by Centrum Leteckého Výcviku LOM s.p. (CLV – LOM) which is based at Pardubice. The aircraft will be delivered no later than 28 months from the start of its effectiveness. At this moment CLV – LOM is using six ageing L-39Cs.
Primarily the aircraft will serve the Czech Air Force pilots, however, it is also planned to train pilots of other countries in the NATO Flight Training Europe (NFTE) programme, under which CLV – LOM has already been certified as one of the first two approved campuses in Europe.
