The Força Aérea Brasileira (FAB, Brazilian Air Force) is negotiating with EMBRAER to cut down its order of 28 KC-390 Millennium tanker-transports.
Due to the economic situation, the FAB simply lacks the funds for this acquisition. Another factor is that the operational performance of the KC-390 exceeds expectations. So, the projected quantity of aircraft is not necessary to do the work. Negotiations with EMBRAER are under way.
The new commander of the FAB, tenente-brigadeiro (general) Carlos de Almeida Baptista Jr, has voiced the wish to diminish the total order with 50% and decrease the delivery rate from three per year to two.
