MADG returns first USMC KC-130J
Marshall Aerospace & Defence Group (MADG) has completed a planned maintenance interval of the first US Marine Corps (USMC) KC-130J Super Hercules tanker.
The Lockheed Martin-built aircraft, BuNo 165810/BH-810 (construction number 382-5509), underwent depot-level maintenance at MADG’s Cambridge airport site (UK) and was returned to the Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron (VMGR) 252 Heavy Haulers ('BH-xxx') MCAS Cherry Point (NC) on 3 July 2021.
In 2020, MADG was contracted by the US government to provide support to the USMC’s fleet of 66 KC-130Js under a ten-year multi-million-dollar deal. The Multiple Award Contract (MAC) was awarded after a rigorous international competitive bidding process. This contract brings MADG’s count of the number of global C-130 operators it supports to seventeen.
Not related to the USMC KC-130J support contract was the delivery of a 'new' USMC C-130J Super Hercules to the US Navy's demonstration team Blue Angels. The new Fat Albert, BuNo 170000 (ex RAF ZH885), was delivered on 4 August 2020.
