Mi-28 attack helicopters for Bangladesh
The Bangladesh Biman Bahini (BAF, Bangladesh Air Force) will get eight Mil Mi-28NE Night Hunter attack helicopters. The budget of USD 480 million for this acquisition was approved by the Department of Finance.
Delivery is scheduled for fiscal years 2022 and 2023, unless a political upheaval or financial troubles prevent it ...
The Mil Mi-28 is a Russian all-weather, day-night, military tandem, two-seat anti-armor attack helicopter. It carries a single gun in an undernose barbette, plus external loads carried on pylons beneath stub wings.
The export version, the Mi-28NE, is already in service with the Iraqi Air Force and Algerian Air Force.
Earlier it was reported that Bangladesh selected the US made Boeing AH-64E Apache as the country's new attack helicopter. In January 2020, Boeing confirmed that the attack helicopter had been selected. However, it became silent after January and most probably the acquisition costs for the helicopter were too high.
