Millennium production for Hungary

In November 2020, the Hungarian government signed a contract for the purchase of two Embraer multi-mission KC390 Millennium transport aircraft with air-to-air refuelling (AAR) capability.

The transporters, destined for the Magyar Légierö (ML, Hungarian Air Force), will mainly be used for troop transport, cargo air drop and paratroop operations.

Next to that, the aircraft will be fitted with a probe and drogue system and enables them to refuel fighter aircraft like the ML JAS39C/D Gripen. The KC-390s can be equipped with an on-board intensive care unit so they are capable of performing medevac and/or humanitarian missions.

Almost one year later, on 11 November 2021, Embraer reported that structural work has begun in it’s factory in Brazil. Embraer stated: “In the coming weeks, parts will be assembled to generate the structural panels and frames for the main components of the fuselage and semi-wings."

The first aircraft is scheduled to be delivered in 2024.
