On the opening day (18 July 2022) of the Farnborough Air Show (UK), Airbus Helicopters announced that Morocco ordered a fleet of Airbus H135M twin-engine light utility helicopters. The number of H135Ms involved has not been revealed.
The new training helicopters will replace the L'Ecole de Pilotage Hélicoptère (EPH) AgustaBell AB206A and AB206B helicopters in use with the Alkowat al malakiya al jawiya (RMAF, Royal Moroccan Air Force) at 1 Air Base at Rabat/Salé.
The contract also covers an extensive support package including the delivery of Flight Training Devices and the training of instructor pilots and maintenance pilots.
The helicopter type is already known with the Moroccon military as the Gendarmerie Royale already operates four EC135s with the Escadron Aerién at Rabat/Souissi.
