USN T 45C 640Navy Goshawk down

On 24 March the United States Navy’s Training Air Wing (TAW) 2  based at NAS Kingsville (TX) lost a VT-22 Golden Eagles Goshawk (BuNo 167100/B-222, construction number 215/C132).

The Goshawk crashed during a training flight, three miles northeast of Naval Auxiliary Landing Field (NALF) Orange Grove (TX), on County Road 308 off Highway 359.

Both pilots ejected safely. Most likely, they were practising touch-and-go manoeuvres at the NALF when it came down under unknown circumstances.

The Goshawk in question had special colours, as part of the US Navy Centennial celebrations.
