The Fundacja Biało-Czerwone Skrzydła (White-Red Wings Foundation) at Mielec airport in Poland was established in 2014. Since then a number of Polish post-war built aircraft have been restored to airworthy condition.
The latest of these, newly restored TS-11 Iskra SP-YYI (c/n 3H-1435) has taken to the sky on 13 May 2023. The trainer has been finished in an attractive Bharatiya Vayu Sena (Indian Air Force) with its original serial W1760 and nosecode 60.
In contrast with our earlier report this W1760 (c/n 3H-1435) is the original machine which was returned to Poland in part exchange for the batch of secondhand Polish machines that went to India. It used to be preserved in Poland at Napoleon.
The second W1760 (c/n 3H-2014) used to fly for the Polish Air Force as 2014 before it went to India where it became 'the second' W1760. This Iskra was last seen preserved in that country at the Jalahalli AFS.
