New trainer for Jandarma
The Türk Jandarma Havacılık Başkanlığı (Turkish Gendarmerie Aviation Directorate) received a new aircraft type: the Aquila Aviation International GmbH A212.
The ultralight-class aircraft will reportedly be used for basic training and will be operated from the Jandarma base at Ankara Güvercinlik. Aquila Aviation produces the aircraft at their Schönhagen Airport facilities, 50km south of Berlin (Germany).
The introduction of another type (recently, the Jandarma took delivery of four Cavalon 915 i5 Autogyro aircraft) is surprising. Although the Beech 350ISR and Cessna 680 are also operated by the Jandarma, this ultralight does not seem to be a suitable training platform for any of the fixed-wing aircraft. Time will tell what the exact role will be.
One thing that is clear is the Turkish connection with the German manufacturer. The CEO is Mrs. Gamze Boroğlu Zorlu and the Managing Partner is Mr. M. Celal Gökçen.
