Nose art on Turkish Police Aviation Bayraktar

The Turkish Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü (EGM) Polis Havacılık Daire Başkanlığı (General Directorate of Security - Police Aviation Department) applied the first ever nose art to a UAV in Turkey’s history, a Bayraktar TB2S.

The design and application was done by Ömer Erkmen Artworks. The Bayraktar is stationed at Erzurum.

The unit here was initially called Dadaş Filo, but with the introduction of the UAV (İHA in Turkish) during 2019, it was appropriately renamed İlHan Filo.

The Bayraktar TB2S that received the nose art, bears T114 as its serial number, indicating that the EGM received more Bayraktar UAVs than initially ordered.

The Turkish Police operates three types of UAVs, the Bayraktar TB2(S) MALE UAV, the rail-launched Arcturus T20 and the Çağatay VTOL UAV.

The following units and locations are currently used by the EGM aviation units:

  • HQ Ankara Gölbaşı - OğuzFilo
  • Adana - YıldızHanFilo
  • Antalya - AyHanFilo
  • Diyarbakır - DağHanFilo
  • Erzurum - İlHanFilo
  • İstanbul - DenizHanFilo
  • İzmir - GökHanFilo
  • Van - GünHanFilo

Interesting detail is that the Police Aviation Department ordered six Bayraktar TB2S UAVs back in October 2015. These were all delivered by December 2019 and most likely received serials in the EM-321 through EM-326 range (EM for Emniyet).
