On 16 May 2023, an Air National Guard legacy F-15D Eagle, assigned to the 114th Fighter Squadron Eager Beavers, part of the 173rd Fighter Wing, departed the runway during landing at approximately 15:15hrs LT at Kingsley Field Air National Guard Base near Klamath Falls (OR).

Coming to rest in shallow water, there was only one crew member on board the dual seat Eagle. The pilot exited the aircraft safely and was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center (OR) as a precaution and for evaluation. At this moment, the circumstances under which the accident took place are still unclear. A board of assigned specialists will investigate the accident.

The F-15D appeared freshly painted and bore no unit markings. This could possibly indicate a recent transfer of a former Kadena (Japan) based example.
