Peru - various acquisition updates
The Peruvian armed forces are in the process of acquiring various aircraft.
Firstly, a single Beech King Air 360 from Textron Aviation has been bought. This aircraft is set to reinforce the Fuerza Aérea del Perú (FAP, Peruvian Air Force) Grupo 8 and will be based at Cajamarca/FAP Armando Revoredo Iglesias so they can better support the hinterland. The contract value has been altered several times and is believed to have a value of USD 13.4 million.
Also, a final decision is still pending on the successor to the Bell 212/Bo105 fleet on which Scramble Magazine reported on 23 September 2022.
Secondly, the Ejercito del Perú (EP, Peruvian Army) is seeking a new light training helicopter. The tender has just started and a likely candidate is the Enstrom F28 or Enstrom 280FX already used by the Army. The Enstrom is also the training helicopter of the Air Force and Navy.
Third, and last, is finding an alternative for the An-178 ordered by the Policía Nacional del Perú (PNP, Peru National Police) that was already under production. In December 2021 the delivery was delayed due to funding issues in Peru, according to Spetstechnoexport. Obviously, that order will not materialise anymore. No tender has been issued yet as the settlement of the Antonov contract is still unclear.
