Polish Border Guard orders two more L-410s
The Lotnictwo Straż Graniczna (LSG, Polish Border Guard) announced on 28 May 2024, the signing of an agreement with Aero Club and JB Investments for the purchase of two new L-410UVP-E20 patrol aircraft for a total amount of €28 million (120 million Zlotys).
The new aircraft will join the two existing L-410UVP-E20s, serials SN-61YG and SN-62YG, which were received in November 2020. These aircraft are used to secure Polish borders and participates in joint operations with other European Union countries, reflecting Poland's commitment to cooperative security efforts.
The aircraft will be equipped with electronic maps covering the entire territory of Poland, as well as exclusive economic zones over the Baltic Sea region, the coastal waters of the Kaliningrad Region, Portugal (excluding the Azores), Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, and Senegal.
The LSG Aviation Wing is an integral component of Poland's Border Guard, responsible for aerial surveillance, reconnaissance, and operational support. This specialised aviation unit plays a critical role in maintaining the security of Poland's borders and supporting various missions within the European Union. The fleet also includes helicopters and other fixed-wing aircraft, which are utilised for a variety of missions. These range from routine border patrols and anti-smuggling operations to more complex tasks like environmental monitoring and disaster response.
