RAAF Super Hornets arrive in Singapore
On 24 September 2021, four Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F/A-18F Super Hornets arrived in Singapore from RAAF Base Amberley (Australia) after a night stopper at Darwin. The aircraft involved are A44-203, A44-205, A44-206 and A44-213.
All four Super Hornets are operated by 1 Squadron Videmus Agamus (We Seek and We Strike) and will participate in the Bersama Gold 21 exercise that will start on 8 October 2021. The exercise will take place in Singapore and Malaysian airspace for a period of one week and will end on 16 October. Malaysia, Singapore, the UK, Australia and New Zealand will participate in the exercise. RNZAF P-3K2 Orion, serial NZ4206, arrived earlier this week at Singapore/Changi airport.
Tanker support from Darwin to Singapore was provided by Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) A330MRTT serial 765, which dropped off eight RSAF F-16D+ fighters at Darwin for a deployment the day prior.
The aim of the exercise, to be held off the coast of Singapore and the Malaysian Peninsula, is to exercise Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) defence forces in the conduct of Combined and Joint Operations in a multi-threat environment. The exercise will commence with Force Integration Training and conclude with a War-at-Sea exercise.
