Rafale fighter cuts power line
On 17 February 2021, two Armée de l'Air et de l'Espace (AdlA, French Air and Space Force) Dassault Rafales from the 4e Escadre de Chasse (EC-4), based at Base Aérienne 113 Saint Dizier/Robinson, cut three power lines in the village of Castellet (Alpes de Haute Provence). The broken power lines started a fire and deprived about 300 villagers of electricity for hours.
The fire was extinguished by firemen and no casualties were reported. The two Rafales had taken off from Orange/Caritat air base (BA115) in Vaucluse for a low-level training exercise. Although both aircraft landed safely, on one of the released photographs extensive damage could be noted.
