The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported that twelve Russian Federation - Aerospace Forces (RF VKS) Sukhoi Su-35S fighters have finalised redeployment to Belarus.
All Sukhois landed at Baranovichi Air Base to participate in the joint exercises Allied Resolve-2022 which will be held from 10 February to 20 February 2022.
The Su-35S multi-role fighters are operated by the 23rd Fighter Aviation Regiment from Dzemgi Air Base, near Komsomolsk-na-Amure, which is part of the Eastern Military District.
The air crews will be involved in checking the quick reaction forces of the Union State, perform flights to the maximum range, practice landings at Belarussian airfields and coordinate operations with the newly delivered two divisions of S-400 surface-to-air missile (SAM) systems as part of the unified regional air defence system of Russia and Belarus.
Earlier, the Russian MoD announced plans to send twelve Su-35S fighters and a division of short-range air defence systems 'Pantsir-S' to Belarus for exercises. Almost all the Armed Forces of Belarus, as well as parts of the Eastern Military District, the RF VKS and the Airborne Forces (VDV) of Russia, will be involved in the exercises Nevertheless, the number of military personnel and equipment involved in exercises shall not exceed the parameters determined by the Vienna Document 2011.
