On Friday 27 September 2024, the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, Royal Netherlands Air Force) will bid farewell to the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon. Several of the last active aircraft will fly a farewell round over the Netherlands.
The formation is scheduled to depart at 13:00 hrs local time from Volkel air base. The fighter will mainly fly over the locations where they have been active. The flight route and time may change due to circumstances. Let's hope for good weather on Friday afternoon.
The route, as can be seen on the map, will go from Volkel via De Peel, Twenthe, Leeuwarden, Vlieland, Nieuw Milligen (Air Operations Control), Soesterberg, The Hague, Woensdrecht, Breda (KMA), Gilze-Rijen and Eindhoven before rurning to Volkel at around 15:30 hrs LT.
This farewell flight will mark 45 years of continuous operations of the F-16 within the KLu.
