RNoAF F-16AM delivered to aviation museum
With only a few weeks left before the official retirement of the remaining Luftforsvaret (RNoAF, Royal Norwegian Air Force) F-16AM/BM Fighting Falcons, F-16AM serial 687 (call sign Dolly 14) flew on 3 December 2021 from Bodø Hovedflystasjoner (Main Air Station) to Oslo/Gardermoen on delivery to Forsvarets Flysamling Gardermoen.
F-16AM 687 (constructiuon number 6K-59) was assembled with Fokker at Amsterdam/Schiphol (Netherlands) and made its first flight on 2 May 1984. The aircraft was delivered to 331 skvadron at Bodø on 30 May 1984.
During a small ceremony at gardermoen, the head of the aviation museum, Anders Utgård, mentioned "that the museum can not have a military aircraft exhibition without the F-16, the aircraft we have had the longest of all the military aircraft throughout our history."
On 21 October 2021, Scramble Magazine reported on the retirement of the RNoAF F-16 Fighting Falcon. Earlier this week, Scramble Magazine reported on the sale of twelve F-16s to the US company Draken International.
