Second Super Hercules delivered to Algeria
On 24 April 2022, the second LM-100J Super Hercules for the al-Quwwat al-Jawwiya al-Jaza'iriya (Algerian Air Force) has been delivered at its new homebase Boufarik air base, after it made a stop-over at St. John's International airport (Canada) the night before.
The first Super Hercules, serial 7T-WJA (construction number 382-5818), is former Lockheed-Martin demonstrator LM-100J N5103D, and arrived in Algeria on 23 January this year.
The second one, serial 7T-WJB (c/n 382-5824) is also a former civil aircraft. It has been operated by Pallas Aviation as N5105A and was at the 2019 Paris Air Show.
Apart from the two LM-100Js, Algeria ordered four C-130J-30 Super Hercules transport aircraft in 2018. All new transporters will, like the C-130H models, operated by the 2ème Escadre de Transport Tactique et Logistique (2 ETTL) at Boufarik air base.
