Su-24M2 crashed in Perm territory
On Friday 27 August 2021, the press service of the Central Military District announced that a Su-24M2 tactical bomber of the Russian Federation - Aerospace Forces (RF VKS) has crashed 95 kilometers west of the city of Perm in the Privolzhsky Federal District.
Both crew members ejected from the aircraft and were transported to the nearest medical facility with only minor injuries.
The aftermath of the plane crash was captured on video, the footage showing clouds of smoke formed as a result of the accident. According to preliminary data, the primary cause of the crash was equipment failure.
The aircraft, Su-24M2 with registration RF-95099 and Bort 85 Red, was being transferred for overhaul at the JSC 514.ARZ in Rzhev in the Tver region. This same aircraft was registered as Bort 35 White at Khurba Airport (Komsomolsk-on-Amur South) some years ago. It was then operated by the 277th Bomber Aviation Regiment (277.BAP).
