Future Nigerian Air Force Tucanos are making good progress

A small update based on recently released images.

So far, five A-29B Super Tucanos were seen flying for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) student pilots with the USAF's 81st Fighter Squadron at Moody AFB (GA).

The following A-29B serials were reported: 19-2033, 19-2034, 19-2035, 19-2037 and 19-2038.

On 13 November 2020, Scramble Magazine wrote that the Nigerian Chief of Air Staff, Sadique Abubakar, stated that six Sierra Nevada/Embraer A-29B Super Tucano aircraft will soon be delivered.

Next to the A-29Bs, photos of a fully coloured NAF JF-17N Thunder with serial number NAF722 emerged on various social media sites.

The photo was taken within the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra and indicates deliveries are imminent.

The Nigerian JF-17s are painted in nearly the same grey colours as the well-known Pakistan Air Force Thunders. For more information on the Nigerian JF-17s, read our news item of 12 September 2020.
