The Hawaii Mars flies to forever home
The British Columbia Aviation Museum (BCAM) announced that the long awaited arrival of their ultimate exhibit, Martin Mars C-FLYL ‘Hawaii Mars’, will take place on 11 August 2024. On that day the iconic flying boat will leave its home at Sproat Lake and fly under its own power to Pat Bay near Victoria International Airport, base of the BCAM.
On the final leg of the delivery flight, C-FLYL will be escorted by Canada’s national aerobatic team, The Snowbirds.
As reported in earlier posts on the Mars, the plane has been donated to the museum by its former owners, Coulson Flying Tankers. The museum warmly thanks everyone at Coulson Aviation for their incredible hard work in preparing and delivering the aircraft for donation.
Once the Mighty Mars has arrived on the museum grounds, it is set to become the crown jewel in the museum’s growing BC Wildfire Aviation exhibit.
The museum motto is: “The Mars Saved BC, Now BC Saves The Mars!”
