Two more Black Hawks for Polish Police
On 9 December 2022, the Lotnictwo Policja (LP, Police Aviation) signed a contract with PZL Mielec for the purchase of two additional Sikorsky S-70i Black Hawk helicopters.
The contract, valued at USD 79 million (PLN 350 million), was signed during a ceremony at the headquarters of the Polish Police at Warsaw-Babice airport and includes the supply of spare parts, ground handling equipment and training.
With the new contract, the fleet of Black Hawks with the Polish Police Aviation will increase to five. Delivery is expected at the end of 2024. The first two Black Hawks were delivered in December 2018 and the third in April 2019.
General Director of PZL Mielec, Janusz Zakretki said: “The contract signed today is another important milestone for us and a reason for great pride, the more important that it is included with a client who already uses our helicopters and is coming back today for more machines. For us this is proof of the highest recognition and trust in our helicopters. The enlarged fleet of versatile, reliable and durable Black Hawk helicopters will meet the important operational needs of the National Police Headquarters and will contribute to increasing the safety of citizens throughout the country by supporting the Polish Rescue and Firefighting System”.
