USAF ARRW 2 640USAF conducts successful ARRW test

On 14 May 2022, Edward's test USAF Boeing B-52H Stratofortress (serial 60-0036 and named Tagboard Flyer) successfully released an AGM-183A Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) off the southern California coast. Earlier, Scramble wrote about the ARRW tests on Facebook and on our website.

The 419th Flight Test Squadron and the Global Power Bomber Combined Test Force (GPB CTF), both at Edwards AFB (CA), executed the test. Following separation from the Stratofortress, the ARRW’s booster ignited and burned for the expected duration, achieving hypersonic speeds five times greater than the speed of sound.

This game-changing ARRW is designed to enable the US to hold fixed, high-value, time-sensitive targets at risk in contested environments from large stand-off distances. It will also expand precision-strike capabilities by enabling rapid response strikes against heavily defended land targets.

Also, Boeing's F-15EX Eagle II has been designated for carrying standoff weapons in a contested theatre or performing air superiority in less-contested airspace. The USAF has mentioned that in the future the F-15EX could launch the hypersonic AGM-183A.
