Xizang LH Brigade expanding

As confirmed by the Chinese website globaltimes, the Xizang LH Brigade of the People's Liberation Army - Aviation (China Army Aviation) based at Lhasa/Liuwuxiang in Tibet recently received its first Harbin Z-20 medium-lift utility helicopters.

It will be interesting to see how this Z-20 type will perform in these high altitude conditions. Until recently, the Brigade used the powerful Mil Mi-17V-7 hot and high version for transport duties.

This year proves to be the year of the expansion for the brigade as the Changhe Z-8G medium transport helicopter and the CAIC Z-10 attack helicopter were also added to the Tibetan unit. Xizhang Army aviation Brigade helicopters are identified by their serials starting with LH921. The unit became operational in 2017.

It is widely believed that the Z-20 will see an impressive customer list in the near future, not at least because of the success the Sikorsky Black Hawk enjoys where this design is copied from.
