1Terminal
From the small civil terminal you will be able to spot some civil aircraft, mostly GA. No views of the military side are possible from here unless the park one of the instructional airframes outside (which they sometimes do). Best spot is to drive around the southernmost hangar on a gravel track.
2East side approach runway 23, old railroad track
From an old railway enbankment, you can have a view of a part of the military ramp and the nearest hangars. This old track has been closed by a gate, so you will be a bit far for approach photography on runway 23.
3South side ramp and main runway view
To get a better overview take O'Hehirs Road southbound from Sturt Hwy 20. Make a right into Brunskill Road. From there you can see the preserved EMB326. You are rather far away but high. No good for photography though. These roads are unpaved but gravel tracks by the way.
4West side approach runway 05
Follow Brunskill Road, make a right again onto Elizabeth Avenue. This will go past the approach to runway 05. It also provides some distant views of the ramps.
5West side approach runway 12 and ramp view
Should you wish to watch the light aircraft or have a different angle at the ramps, stop a bit further down the road.
6Preserved aircraft
Do not forget to stop at the entrance road to the RAAF base to see several preserved aircraft parked beside the road. There is also a RAAF museum annexe which holds just some bits and pieces.
