General

The town Chuhuiv is situated south east of Kharkiv. The airfield is west of town and houses a transport training unit as well as a state aircraft repair facility.

Layout

The north-south runway is bordered to the east by a very long ramp, probably a secondary runway. The aviation maintenance facility is in the north eastern part whereas the Antonovs are on the central ramp.

Getting There

The airfield cannot be missed as its entrance is alongside the E40/M03 highway and has a pole mounted MiG-21 outside the gate.

Around the Airport

1Flats north east side

Just north of the gate, close to where the perimeter fence ends, there are some apartment buildings. Should these be accessible, scale them and you will be able to see the ramp used for temporary storage of MiG-23s and L-39s.

2South east side view

Go into town and go right at the V-junction onto the P07. Go right / keep straight when the main road bends left. You will be heading towards the train station. Make a right at 49°49'25.18"N, 36°40'33.07"O, this is before you reach the rail road. Take the second left. You will be driving straight to the south eastern perimeter providing views at the approach and possibly the south side of the ramp.

3West side view

From spot 2 go south, left. Make a right at the T-junction and follow this small road underneath the approach and into the farmland. Where there is a road forking off to the left you should be able to see the central ramp.
