Getting There

Selfridge ANGB is located east of the Interstate 94 towards Detroit. It is located close to Mount Clemens and Harrison Charter Township. At Interstate 94, take exit 240A towards Selfridge ANGB for spot 1, 2 and 3, or take exit 234 towards North River Road and Mount Clemens for spot 4 and 5.

Around the Airport

1Landing on runway 17 PM

When exiting I-94, drive towards the main gate of Selfridge ANGB. However, at the first crossing take a left, before you see the fence and runway 17. On this long road you can position yourself for landings in the afternoon on runway 17. For the aircraft is is best to move north neat the water bassins and stand on the concrete areas right of the road. For the USCG helicopters it is best to move near the Road 59/William P Rosso Highway and catch them just before landing.

2Landing on runway 17 AM

To have a good spot for the morning landings onto runway 17, you have to move to the Chesterfield Township Youth Center. Follow Route 59, pass the runway, pass the museum, follow the turn to the left and take the next left onto Anchor Drive. Next take a left onto Kingsberry Street and second left onto Sugarbush Road. At the end, at your left is the center with a nice large parking.

3Museum

The Selfridge Military Air Museum has a nice, large selection of airplanes outside. To visit, it is open in weekends and by appointment during weekdays. Just follow Route 59 and report at the main gate. At the museum, morning shots of landing traffic are possible as well.

4Landing on runway 35 PM

When you leave I-95 via exit 234, follow the North River Road to the east. After a while you see at your left an area with newly built houses. Take the second right, onto Cannon Drive and park at the end for some afternoon landing shots at runway 35.

5View onto ANG ramp

Continue on the North River Road until you see the bridge towards the south. Park your car next to the river and find a good spot to read the KC135s, easy, and the A-10Cs, less easy.
