General

McGuire AFB is located in New Hanover Township in Burlington County (New Jersey)and is the only airbase in the state, New Jersey, just 15 miles from Trenton. The airbase is part of a large military complex which Fort Dix also belongs to. At this airbase you can find the big stuff, like the tankers (KC-10s and KC-135s) and C-17s, but also some civilian contractors. Due to base expasions in the past the spotting possibilities are decreased.

Getting There

If you are driving on the I-295 in northern direction you have to take exit 'Rising Sun Rd / Hwy 206'. Follow the directions towards Hwy 206 (Old York Rd). You should take highway 206 in southern direction and follow the 68 at the upcoming intersection. Following the 68 brings you at the top-left part of the map above.

Around the Airport

1Main Street

This spot is located north of the airbase and is at the parking lot of a local shopping centre. You will have a great view upon arrivals at runway 18, but any activity on base isn't visible from here because of the trees. If walk through two lines of trees towards the base, you will reach the fence where easily can read the KC-135's

2Landing runway 24

At his spot you can see the landing at runway 24 and is located near Mt Rd. (which is a sidestreet of the 667). Coming from spot 1 you should follow the 616/Main St towards Cookstown. When entering Cookstown follow the directions towards Brown Mills. This should be the 667. Mt Rd will be on your left.
