Langley AFB is one of the oldest and largest airbases in the USA. It houses the headquarters of the Air Combat Command. Hosting unit of Langley is the 1st FW. Their is role is to maintain combat capability for rapid global deployment to conduct air superiority operations. To perform this task, the fighterwing uses F-15s and F-22s. Beside the 1st FW also ANG is present at Langley. The 149th FS 192nd FW VA ANG forms an Associate unit with the 1st FW. They share aircraft and equipment but have seperate commands. The airforce isn't the only occupant of Langley. NASA is also present with a large research center and various types of aircraft (eg. B.757 and Beech 200).
The two photo and view spots are located near the N Armistead Ave. If you're driving on the I-64 in eastern direction, you have to take the exit 261(B) which leads towards the 'Hamptons Road Center Pwy' in eastern direction. Follow this road till the end and turn left onto N Armistead Ave. Following this road leads you to spot 1 and 2. Spot 1 is located on your left, opposite of the westgate.
