The Sudanese Air Force operates some 11 MiG-29SEs in No. 10 Squadron in the airdefence role from Wadi Sayyidna airbase.
The advanced training role for future fighter pilots is carried out on six FTC-2000 dual seat fighters, based at Wadi Sayyidna airbase. The FTC-2000 is a fighter variant of the Chinese JL-9 trainer.

For gunship missions, the SuAF operates variants of the Mi-24 (Mi-24V/P) and the Mi-35 gunships in No. 3 Squadron. Homebase of these gunships is Jabal Awliya airbase.

One of the workhorses of the Sudanese Air Force is An-12BK of No. 1 Squadron based at Khartoum Airport. Some ten were delivered but it is unclear about the operational status of these freighters.

The SuAF is also using the An-32 from No. 1 Squadron for the transport of troops and cargo from Khartoum Airport. Nine An-32As and An-32Bs were delivered.

Merowe Airbase is being used as a joint fighter training base for pilots from the Sudanese Air Force and the Egyptian Air Force. A contingent of 6 MiG-29Ms are based at Merowe AB. In April 2023, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) captured Merowe AB and all present aircraft, including Egyptian AF MiG-29Ms and Sudanese AF FTC-2000s.
The SuAF operates many variants of the Mi-8 (Mi-8PS/MT) and Mi-17 (Mi-17V-5, Mi-171E/Sh) in the assault and troop transport role.

The Sudan Aviation Complex developed the Safat 3 trainer, based on the Jugoslavian UTVA-75. The Safat 3 is being used for elementary training at Port Sudan.
