At Hickham AFB, close to Honolulu in Hawaii you can find various types of the USAF.F-22s for the fighter role, C-37, C-40 and C-17s for transport and KC-135 for air to to air refuelling. This HH coded KC-135R of 203rd ARS was a long way from home when it visited Geilenkirchen.

33 RQS is replacing the HH-60G with the HH-60W As part of its modernization plan, the Air Force is returning Kadena’s senior fleet of F-15C/D Eagle aircraft back to the United States. This move will be concluded in 2023. As the unit progresses through this transitory phase, the U.S. Department of Defense will continue to maintain a continuous fighter presence in the region by temporarily deploying newer and more advanced aircraft to backfill the F-15s as they return to the U.S. mainland. The 319th Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron was operating out of Kanoya Japan and moved to Kadena in Q3 2023. |
Not so many frontline F-15C squadrons exist in the USAF and the ZZ Eagles will soon disappear.
(Kadena,December 2019, Raymond van Dijkhuizen)
Just like at Hicham, Kadena AB has all sorts of types based here.
