Comair suspends operations, again

On 31 May 2022, Comair announced it has suspended all operations at Kulula.com and the ones operating as British Airways due to a lack of funding. The sale of tickets has also been suspended. The suspension will be in place until the company's business rescue practitioners (BRP) have secured additional funding to continue operating. The airline is confident the suspension can be reversed soon.

It's the second halting of operations for Comair this year. In March, the airline was forced to halt flying as its Air Operator's Certifacte was suspended for a short period by the South African civil aviation authorities.

Comair, which operates as a British Airways-franchisee and as low-cost operator Kulula.com has a fleet of three B737-400s and nine B737-800s (Comair) and one B737-400 and seven B737-800s (Kulula.com). It also has a cargo-subsidiary, Star Air Cargo, flying with eight B737-300s and one B737-400, which hasn't been affected by the suspension of operations.
