iAero Airways to cease operations
iAero Airways has announced it will cease all operations at the end of 6 April 2024. The airline has been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection since 19 September 2023 but has failed to complete its restructuring efforts.
iAero Airways was founded in 1997 as Swift Air, launching operations with the Embraer ERJ135. In November 2006, it expanded the fleet with three Boeing B737-400s. The aircraft were outiftted with a VIP-configuration and used by the company for flying mainly sports teams.
In 2017, Swift Air acquired the assests and branding of the second iteration of Eastern Airlines. It would, however, market these rights to Dynamic Air, which was owned by one of the owners of Swift Air. Since 2018, Dynamic Air is operating as Eastern Airlines.
Swift Air was acquired by the iAero Group in May 2019 and rebranded itself into iAero Airways in December of that same year.
Today, iAero's fleet consists of four Boeing B737-300s, five B737-400s, three B737-800s, and three B737-800BDSFs. The latter are being operated by the airline for DHL.
