As two seaters are required for the pilot training that is intended to start soon, the question is whether the SABCA stored birds will be brought back to operational status. The 24 Volkel single seaters are not suitable for the pilot training. Next question would be where the training will take place.

Since the last flight was in 1984 (almost 40 years ago) I don't think any pilot will be "current".

Anyone know what the role of Volkel is? It is mentioned as participating airbase. But is it just that the regular dutch jets participating in the exercise operate from their home base? Or is there a chance that other fighters would be deployed here?

Oopski... Probably trying to scare it away by dumping fuel very nearby. If the intention was to bring it down, they could have just used guns or missiles. The dumped fuel could impede sensors on the Reaper. But they could also hope it would catch fire. That would destroy it without them touching it...
