Hi all,
I am looking for someone who can complete an old log that I have, concerning RAF Kemble.
Back then it was a maintenance center for the USAFE. From the stone wall along the base perimeter I read off a few aircraft inside the large hangar, but I am looking for confirmation of the F-5 stored inside.
On 21 August 1990 I wrote down:
A-10A:
80-0147/WR 510th TFS
80-0169/WR 78th TFS
80-0271/WR 91st TFS
81-0942/WR 91st TFS
81-0964/AR 509th TFS
and outside:
HC-130N 69-5823 67th SOS
Behind the A-10s was an F-5E. From my recollection it was painted in the lizard scheme, but from information online the only (and final) former 527th AS Tiger to be stored at Kemble at the time prior to delivery to Morocco was 74-1569. And this one was painted all grey while still active. The last lizard camo Agressor to be stored at Kemble was 74-1553, but that one was delivered to Morocco on 26 July 1990, so a month prior to my visit to Kemble.
So big question is which F-5E I saw. If it was 74-1569, was it repainted in a lizard camo at Kemble at the time?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Richard.
