Uruguay's Defense Ministry intends to purchase from the military authorities of Ecuador used gunship four A-37B Dragonfly, to partially cover the deficit warplanes. According to Jane's , currently in Ecuador, Uruguay is a special commission, which must check the technical condition of aircraft, planned to purchase.

Since 2010, Uruguay made several attempts to purchase six new combat aircraft equipped with radar stations. Among the various options considered by the Chinese K-8 Karakorum, and L-15 LIFT, a Russian Yak-130, M-346 Italian Master, Argentine AT-63 Pampa II, and used the Indian Su-30K and Chilean F-5E Tiger III +. The decision to choose a particular aircraft will be made no earlier than October 2014.

Uruguay Air Force operates flights to six A-37 since 1976. In 1988 he received the U.S. military used two A-37B, and in 1989 ─ six. Currently, the Uruguayan Air Force operates flights to four planes of this type; two A-37B in reserve and in need of repair. Write-off of remaining in service Dragonfly scheduled for 2016-2017 year.
